Thoughts on the City of Vancouver Affordable Housing Fund

Vote YES on the City of Vancouver Affordable Housing Fund!

Proposition 3 is a replacement property tax levy that, if approved, would provide dedicated funding for housing and housing services for people with low income. It would serve seniors, hardworking families, people with disabilities and special needs, veterans, and the homeless -- helping 24,000 Vancouver families afford their homes, stabilizing 5,000 families facing homelessness, and providing 550 shelter beds.

This levy would extend the City of Vancouver’s Affordable Housing Fund (AHF) because the current levy supporting the AHF will expire at the end of 2023. This 10-year replacement levy would build/preserve affordable rental housing in Vancouver for up to 50 years. And, levy dollars would bematched 8:1 by other funding sources.

PLEASE NOTE: The Proposition 3 levy is a budget item. This means that, over its lifetime, the amount will not increase if your home appraisal goes up. The amount, which is assessed the initial year of the levy, will remain the same.
