Thursday, April 24, 5 p.m., Luepke Community Center/Community Room, 1009 E. McLoughlin Blvd., Vancouver.
Our Congresswoman Marie Gluesenkamp Perez is conducting a Clark County town hall. This is our opportunity to hold her accountable for her stance on issues crucial to saving our democracy. Let’s all show up!

For the Senators:
“Trump’s tariffs are going to crash our economy, destroy our standing in the world, and financially wreck Americans like me. Tariffs will directly impact [my pension/the cost of products my family needs/our retirement plans]. Congress has the power to repeal them by ending Trump’s so-called emergency. Congress must step in right now to protect working Americans. Thank you.”
“As your constituent, I’m urging you to vote no on limiting courts’ ability to check presidential abuses of power. HR 1526, the ‘No Rogue Rulings’ act, undermines the most basic and fundamental element of our system of government — our checks and balances. Congress should not arbitrarily limit federal courts’ ability to issue injunctive relief based on the facts and law in cases before them. This politically motivated bill would potentially leave millions of people vulnerable to lawless executive actions. This bill would be a disaster for our rights and for our democracy. No president should be above the law. Please, vote no on limiting courts’ ability to check presidential abuses of power. Thank you.”
For Rep. Perez:
“I want the Congresswoman to strongly oppose the recent cuts to the Department of Health and Human Services. These cuts endanger everything from infectious disease control and cancer research to essential programs such as Head Start and Meals on Wheels. I also want the Congresswoman to demand Secretary Kennedy attend congressional hearings to explain the reasoning behind these dangerous changes. Thank you.”
“I demand that Congresswoman Perez speak out against the Trump administration’s deportation of Venezuelan immigrants and work to give them rightful due process before they are sent to a torture prison in El Salvador. I also ask that the Congresswoman hold the administration accountable for the innocent immigrants they have already knowingly deported without due process, and pressure the administration to bring these victims back. Thank you.”

Voice-record your support for funding public media — including the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which helps fund local public stations such as Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB) in our neck of the woods. It’s almost time for Congress to decide which entities get how much funding for fiscal year 2026. Public media’s funding has been threatened in recent years. That trend is only expected to accelerate this year.

Tuesday, April 22, 7 p.m. at the high school, 725 Highland Road, La Center.
The La Center School District has policies to out trans children to their parents without asking the child if the parent is safe. Washington’s Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) ruled that the district broke state policies more than 30 times. But La Center superintendent Peter Rosenkranz said the board will use district resources to fight the OSPI ruling.
Let the board know this is unacceptable. Before the meeting, sign up to address the board during the public comment period. Contact Tammy Lichliter at (360) 263-2131, before 4 p.m. on April 22. Give your name, telephone number, resident district and the topic you wish to discuss.
